  • Like the Kindle before it, Amazon has taken a great product that didn't really need improving, and somehow made it better in every way. It looks classier and it sounds significantly better, with all the same perks that made the original Dot such a compell...

  • This latest Echo Dot is undoubtedly the best yet. It may be a little larger than before, but it's still much more discreet than the bigger Echo 2. And we like the Sandstone Fabric colour that we were sent for review: it looks good on a white window sill o...

  • Surprisingly loud and rich sound, Improved aesthetics, Maintains the low price
  • Only available in shades of gray, New power adapter takes up more space on a wall outlet, Bass response is lacking without external subwoofer

  • MUCH louder, Nice tactile buttons, Improved design, Easy set up
  • No more USB port, Audio gets muddy at top volumes, Light animations aren't as smooth
  • Amazon didn't make a speaker to compete with Google or Apple. It made a speaker for people who already own an Echo Dot. This speaker isn't going to convince anyone to switch platforms, and until we get to the holidays and Amazon drops it down to those cra...

  • The new Echo Dot looks and sounds better than ever, and now you can pair two together for stereo audio. The ongoing space race between Alexa and Google Assistant means it'll keep getting a steady stream of new features. Best of all: It's still just $50
  • It doesn't come in any fun colors like the Home Mini does, and it doesn't feature any new hardware tricks, either. Aside from the new look and the stronger sound, it's just the same Dot as before
  • This is the best Dot yet at the same irresistible price -- but it will do little to slow Google's growing momentum...

  • Alexa voice-control and all the smarts that brings, Hugely improved sound quality, Affordable
  • Potentially undercut by Echo Input (if you're just looking for an Alexa controller, Not speaker)
  • The 2018 Amazon Echo Dot is such a significant improvement over its predecessors. It's now much better suited for anyone who wants a compact music device, while still being affordable and increasingly smart. The introduction of the new £34.99 Echo Input me...

  • Inexpensive, Nice design, Vastly improved audio
  • Can't change its look
  • When we reviewed the second-gen Echo Dot, our only complaint was that its speaker wasn't great for music. Well, Amazon fixed that, making the third-generation Dot a smart speaker that's actually worth listening to. At $49, the third-gen Dot is the best, m...
