Less Efficient Than RX 480, Power Consumption On Par With 2-Year Old Maxwell GPUs
Simple tuning of the power and fan curves using WattMan (or ASUS's own GPU Tweak II utility) resulted in some measurable performance gains, and overall power consumption is relatively low, though Polaris isn't as nearly as power-efficient as NVIDIA's Pasc...

Cost per frame king as long as suggested pricing and availability is met. Asus Strix model runs very cool. Impressive 1080p performance not much slower than the RX 480.
Average efficiency next to Nvidia's Maxwell and Pascal. Overclocking headroom isn't huge.

There are no bad graphics cards, only graphics cards with bad pricing. And, well, the Radeon RX 470—especially XFX's model—sits in a bad place. Rather than carving out a compelling new market segment, the Radeon RX 470 just plain feels irrelevant at US$18...

The latest addition to AMD's line-up of Polaris Architecture GPU's, the RX 470, packs as much performance as an NVIDIA GTX 970 for just a fraction of the price...
it's a slickly designed piece of kit that'd look good in any gamer's case. You don't find graphics cards with backplates very often in the US$200-ish price range. As a cherry on top, XFX is extending the RX 470's warranty an extra year compared to previ...

There's genuine surprise here at just how fast the RX 470 is, and just how close it gets to matching the flagship Polaris model, RX 480. Perhaps we should have expected it bearing in mind the relatively slight difference between the last-gen R9 380 and 38...
There are a number of facets to AMD's Radeon RX 470 launch. Let's start with the easiest oneperformance. Radeon RX 470 sports roughly 89% of the shading/texturing hardware as RX 480. So is it any surprise that our factory-overclocked 470 achieves...
