  • Lower Power Usage, Greater Overclocking Headroom, Improved Media Encoding, Better Gaming Scores, Backwards Compatible with AM2
  • Limited to DDR2 Memory, 1.8 GHz HT, Not a Core i7 Killer
  • The Phenom II X4 is really what AMD should have released as the first wave of Phenom processors. It offers enhanced performance and higher overclocks, and at 45nm, it also provides class-leading power consumption numbers. The Phenom II X4 is definitel...

  • Since the Phenom IIs "real” platform with AM3 and DDR3 is not available yet, a final conclusion cannot be made. It is indeed unlikely that the forthcoming Phenom II models will be able to beat the Core i7, but this isnt really important, because the...

  • Abstract:  It’s been a little over a year since the original launch of the AMD Phenom processor. We really do wish that we can say “It took the market by storm” when it was released back in November of 2007, but unfortunately, we can’t. The original Phenom launch...

  • Abstract:  And so, at the end of our long and windy road, with our results in hand, we must ask ourselves, is Phenom II worth your hard earned dollar? The answer that I am invariably left with is \"that depends\". For an existing AM2+ user, the potential for upgrading to the new Deneb-based CPU is a no-brainer...

  • In the little time AMD had, it did the best it could. While it seems some engineers took at least a year off and with a few bumps in the road that slowed AMD down considerably, the chipmaker is finally on the right track. The new CPU is clocked faster ...

  • Good price/performance ratio; entry price for the system is fairly low.
  • Clock-for-clock slower than Intel; cant touch Core i7 in performance.
  • If youre looking to build a fairly cost effective quad core system, AMDs latest Phenom II will get you there. Just dont expect performance miracles. PC Games ...

  • It may not have stolen the performance crown from Intel but with its new Phenom II quad core CPUs, and in particular the 940 Black Edition we're looking at, AMD has finally become competitive again on the CPU front. Unless you must have the fastest and ar...
