Abstract: The Canon S90’s 28-105 mm lens doesn’t seem affected by geometric distortion at wide-angle: the JPEG images and the image on the LCD display don’t show any distortion to speak of.But looking at the raw images from the S90, we got ...
Fast, bright zoom lens, Quality high ISO sensor, Powerful noise-reduction technology, Innovative, helpful design, Generous three-inch rear LCD
No HD video recording, Flash is harsh on auto setting, Rear rotary well is fiddly, Burst mode could be faster, Rear screen tends to scratch
The Canon S90 is the latest compact DSLR replacement from Canon - the little brother to the successful Canon G11.Profits are squeezed to the point of asphyxiation in the compact camera market at the moment; tough economic times mean your typical 'poin...
Compact proportions, fast lens, lens control ring, Raw mode, good quality LCD screen, overall image quality, fast startup

Using the S90, the combination of user-friendly technology, small size and sheer DSLR power is quite addictive. With this new S-series model Canon has raised the bar on compact camera technology, but there's more to a camera than circuitry and some ha...
The long awaited successor to an almost forgotten line of powerful Canon cameras, the PowerShot S90 is the first "S" series model we have seen from Canon since the S80 back in 2005. Sporting an ultra-compact frame that resembles the Digital ELPH line, ...
Picture quality – exposure, sharpness, contrast, colour – from the S90 is outstanding for a compact. Like the G11 it now stands at the top of the heap for image quality from a small camera. Canon’s well-evolved ergonomics, which differ o...
We regret the passing of the optical viewfinder. Our S50 of seven years ago had one. For such a well conceived and made camera that appeals to serious photographers as an alternative to their DSLR the viewfinder is a loss.
The big story here is that, as with the G11, Canon has created a greatly improved camera by reducing the pixel count. 10 megapixels gives excellent resolution while avoiding the worst noise problems that plague over-pixelled compacts. We were delighted...
