Riding round in the Magnum Opus, A desert sprawl to explore, Adds to a famous filmic lore
Combat gets repetitive
I pined for time with my Opus, time on the desert dunes scanning for quarry with whom I could eradicate If only our Aussie hero wasn't holding the Magnum Opus back, then Mad Max would be a smash from start to finish. As it stands, the game is left in the...

Combat gets repetitive
If only our Aussie hero wasn't holding the Magnum Opus back, then Mad Max would be a smash from start to finish. As it stands, the game is left in the shadow of its contemporaries, with a formula that ever so slightly misses the mark. Kyle PittmanApprenti...

Abstract: A little more than 10 years ago, not long after I quit my job to become a freelance writer, a colleague warned me that sometimes the work could be grueling and unrewarding. “I want to talk to you when you're writing a story only for money,” he said. It to...
Gorgeous Sandbox, Honest, Savage Tone, Cathartic Combat
Visual Irregularities, Repetitive Objectives
Mad Max is a juxtaposition of exciting, thrilling fun set in a world of disgusting, primal depravity – like a singing telegram informing you of a death in the family, or an ice-cream cake with your terminal test results written in frosting. It's a conflic...

There's a huge open world to adventure through however you see fit, A great balance of onfoot and car action full of emergent stories, Very satisfying character and skill progression
A paperthin story, Poor mission system and tracking, Too many bland American voices for such an iconic Australian character

Beautiful landscapes and environments, Great driving gameplay, Interesting vehicle designs
Boring protagonist, Fighting mechanics buggy, Mini-games not immersive
All in all, Mad Max is a good game that has the potential to be great. The wasteland presented within has a number of elements that Avalanche Studios never fully takes advantage of, much to its detriment. While Max is a brooding character, he feels slight...
