  • Monitor status via your phone, acts as a nightlight, battery lasts for 5 years, will connects to other Nest products, speaks to you, wave to turn off alarm
  • Expensive, need to have Wi-Fi for it to work, other Nest products absent from UK at time of writing

  • $129 is a lot to ask for a smoke/CO detector, even a connected one
  • Nest brings crisp design and smart features -- connected and otherwise -- to the humble smoke detector. You don't absolutely need the Nest Protect, but it's fine to admit you want one....
