  • Variangle screen, build and picture quality
  • Screen resolution, lack of high ISO, price point
  • Theres no doubting the abilities of this camera to produce stunning still images – and moving images – but it does sit against some tough competitors, including some of Nikons own models. The vari-angle LCD screen is a hugely impressive featur...

  • Very good photo quality; fast; video capture; articulated LCD; nice kit lens; built-in wireless flash controller.
  • Small, dim viewfinder; middling video quality; too easy to accidentally change focus points.
  • Though it falls short in its design, the Nikon D5000 delivers a nice feature set, speedy performance, and great photo quality for the money. Price range: $635.99 - $729.99 check prices See all products in the series

  • Good image quality and performance, HD video capability, Essentially a D90 for less money,
  • HD video time limited, No AF for video, Too expensive for an entrylevel camera,
  • When Nikon released the D90 consumers quickly fell in love with the video capability built into a full-featured DSLR. Unfortunately, the largest market interested in shooting video with a DSLR is the entry-level consumer market ... and the D90 is just ...

  • Compact body, Intuitive interface, Excellent AF/metering/White balance, Very capable 11-point AF system Nikons best Live View yet, Includes face detection AF, 720p HD video can be handy
  • Simplified ergonomics, Slow Contrast-detection AF in Live View, Struggles with backlit subjects, Inbuilt microphone is over-sensitive to sounds of camera handling, No AF in video mode, Currently rather pricey

  • The Nikon D5000 is one of the most impressive digital SLR cameras on the market. Not only can it be used as a fully fledged D-SLR with manual settings, but it can shoot movies and also be used in a similar way to an advanced compact or a point-and-sho...

  • Excellent Live View implementation, useful scene modes and shooting hints, comfortable to use, fast shot-to-shot and burst mode performance
  • No dedicated aperture dial, no shortcut for ISO setting, videos were jumpy
  • Nikon’s D5000 is an easy-to-use digital SLR. It’s not a big camera, so it won’t be too hard to carry on outdoor adventures and overseas trips — unless you also pack plenty of lenses and accessories. We recommend it for anyone who w...
