  • Abstract:  I first saw the Sphero robotic ball about 2 years ago at CES, but I never really got a chance to play with one hands-on until now. When I first saw it in action, all I wanted to say was “Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.” This little orb is packed with cool te...

  • It's fun, Easy to set up, Good variety of games, Geek appeal
  • Battery life feels too short, Not the best as a games controller, Eccentric motion controls , sometimes
  • As smartphone toys go, the Orbotix Sphero has a lot of recommend it. It's easy to setup and fun to use - thanks to a variety of largely free and low priced games. The Sphero itself isn't perfect - sometimes, the ball's controls get a little eccentric duri...

  • Fun to play with. Easy setup. Cool compatible apps. Wireless control and charging.
  • Pricey. Controls can be a bit clumsy. Limited app selection
  • The Orbotix Sphero is a neat little remote controlled robotic ball, and while it has some interesting uses when paired with your phone or tablet, it's a bit too expensive for what it is....

  • Fun; lots of free or cheap apps; open API means there could be lots more apps to come
  • Pretty expensive; most apps have limited longevity
  • It's certainly not cheap, but this seemingly simple, well-made toy has surprising depth and a wide range of applications

  • Great hardware design, Fab wireless charger
  • Limited support at present, A bit pricey
  • Hardware-wise the Orbotix Sphero is a very neat little package. However, until we start seeing more apps and games appear that make use of the Sphero, it's hard to recommend at a hundred quid. However, if you're feeling flush it wouldn't half make a cool...
