  • Abstract:  When you look at the evolution of open-world action games, youll quickly find that weve got two major ways to develop one: the realistic world filled with cops and crime, and the comic book world full of superpowers, heroes, and villains. But with a...

  • Abstract:  During the last console generation, we saw a widespread proliferation of superhero games. Amidst the slew of X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman games, Radical Entertainment’s Hulk Ultimate Destruction stood out as the most visceral, chaotic and action-packe...

  • Do you want to race around an urban jungle gym the way youd expect a fairly potent comic book superhero would? Prototypes your game. Not even Treyarchs Spider-Man free-roamers offer this much super-powered physical leverage over Manhattans overgro...

  • The combat is fun when it isnt out of hand; over-the-top gore is pretty amusing.
  • Bad AI, poor visuals, and confusing storytelling.

  • Intriguing storyline and protagonist , Varied missions that can be approached in numerous ways , Massive arsenal of moves and abilities , Plenty of activities and challenges outside of main story , Challenging, but almost never frustrating
  • The scenery is dull and never changes , Occasionally fiddly controls
  • This open-world action game set in Manhattan is proof that even viral outbreaks can be incredibly fun if they're done right....

  • Fantastic storyline, excellent gameplay, awesome superpowers.
  • No real side missions, lack of longevity, no multiplayer, occasionally drab graphics.

  Published: 2009-06-15, review by: arstechnica.com

  • Abstract:  Its an interesting question to ask while playing: why did Prototype fail? Yes, it did fail, although for hours while playing I couldnt quite put my finger on what exactly missed the mark. Its a fun failure, in places, with a sense of power that feel...
