  • UltraFast Performer, 1TB of Capacity, Very Cool and Quiet Operation
  • Average Access Times, Initial Software Difficulties
  • Samsungs latest Spinpoint F1 1TB hard drive certainly looks like a very attractive package. The three 334GB platter design is the best of any 1TB model, and when coupled with a full 32MB of data cache, it allows Samsung to rule the high-capacity perf...

  • All four Terabyte drives in this round-up offer a colossal amount of storage at a very reasonable price. The Hitachi is showing its age but still delivers decent performance, but we were less convinced by the green power saving features of the Western...

  • Abstract:  SATA 3Gbps; NCQ; 7,200rpm; 32MB cache; 8.9ms avg. seek; 27 to 29dB; 300G non-operating shock tolerance; 3 disks/6 heads; Three-year warranty The newest member of the terabyte club has a really good excuse for showing up so late. Samsung decided to wait...

  • Massive capacity; good performance and MTBF numbers.
  • Less efficient and the most expensive drive tested.
  • The capacity is great, the performance is pretty good, but the drive is noisier and consumes more power than the completion. Its also the most expensive drive we tested. ...

  • The fact that Samsung, a relatively small player in the hard drive market, is the first to offer a three-platter terabyte drive is an impressive feat in itself. But this is more than just a symbolic milestone. The Spinpoint F1 employs its three 334GB p...
