  • If you have just one drive slot, this may be the drive to have, Excellent balance of performance, capacity, and price, High performance drive before adding a 4GB SSD: 7200RPM, SATA 3 Gbps, 32MB cache, Adaptive memory can provide significant performance boost for common tasks, 5-year warranty, Capacity that SSDs can't touch without costing a fortune, 60GB MLC SSD costs about the same as the 500GB
  • Far more expensive than other 500GB, 7200RPM 2.5" drives, High access times

  • The Seagate Momentus XT has been dubbed around the net as a SSD killer. Would I call it that? No, but what I would call it an HDD killer. The Momentus XT beats out traditional hard drives in just about every test. This drive is the perfect stepping st...

  • I love innovation. Where most companies are trying to improve on an existing idea, Seagate is bringing new ideas to the market. The Solid State Hybrid (SSH) is exactly what we need right now. The Momentus XT greatly improves on the typical laptop h...

  • When the Hybrid Momentus XT debuted in May, we were very impressed with the drive. The drive performed better then we expected and with a price that was way below the cost of an SSD. Today, we looked at two hybrids in RAID and were equally impressed...
