This lens feels like a finely made, luxury device. Mechanically it is smooth and although the lens extends dramatically there is no wobble in the telescoping parts. Image stabilisation is good. Image quality is excellent.
Even with a modest zoom range it is hard to avoid distortion – marked barrel at the wide end and perceptible pincushion at the long end
