  • Overall, I’d rate the 40EX524 as a stylish, everyman telly with a forward looking feature roster. As such, it bodes well for other screens in Sony’s 2011 line. While more demanding users should look up the Sony range for better picture quality, I susp...

  • Restyled BRAVIA Internet Video portal with Skype video calling, USB hard drive recording option, Good black level, Low energy consumption
  • Limited motion picture resolution, Poor media streaming file support, Haphazard web browser integration

  • Accurate colours in Expert mode: average deltaE of 2.4, Excellent contrast ratio: 4017:11, Matte finish doesn't suffer from reflections, Low energy consumption: 102 W
  • No motion interpolation, Viewing angles too narrow, Media player doesn't support enough video formats, Display less responsive than average, Clouding on our test unit
  • The Sony EX523 is an entry-level LED TV with a great picture quality. All that's missing is support for 3D and motion interpolation....
