TestSeek's Expert Reviews Summary
Staff at TestSeek has read all the expert reviews (so you don't have to) for this product and written a summary of what the editors think about the product.
AMD 6970 has come to the world to figh the NVIDIA GTX 570 and it succeeds quite well in this task. However the new AMD 6970 graphics card doesn't quite reach up to the absolute top performers. This may however change with new drivers coming out in the future. What the editors like is the relative low power consumption and the lower-than-usual noise levels (except for when in high load). Another positive feature is the possibility to connect multiple cards (more than two) via CrossFire. That one can easily revert to the standard frequencies is also good so that potential problems with overclocked cards can be easiliy fixed.
The editors liked
2GB Memory
Cooling features
Strong performance/watt
The editors didn't like
Noisy at higher performance levels
Overclocking doesn't mean real world benefits
Expensive
TestSeek's Conclusion
The AMD HD 6970 card brings many new cool things to the table; mainly its power tuning technology. The performance is very high although not yet as good as the top performing graphics cards but this may be due to the early drivers which was used in the tests.
It appears we are going to face a repeat with the new Radeon HD 6900 and GeForce GTX 500 GPU series. With a few key differences, of course. This time Nvidia arrived to market well on time and they are also very efficient against competing Radeons. Whe...
Excellent topend DX11 graphics performance, Cayman GPU includes stereoscopic 3D functionality, Nearly silent cooling fan at idle, very quiet under load, Fan exhausts most heated air outside of case, Multiview CODEC enables 3D Bluray playback, Improves DisplayPort to 1.2 with display chaining, Supports CrossFireX functionality,
Expensive enthusiast product, Limited AMD HD3D product support

Abstract: 2.6 billion. Six. The first figure is the number of transistors in AMD's new Cayman graphics processor. The second is the number of days we've had to spend with it prior to its release. Today's GPUs are incredibly complex beasts, and the companies that...
It's been ATI's strategy over the past few years to produce relatively small, efficient GPUs that are more straightforward to manufacture. This approach leaves the company a little short at the high end of the market, but ATI's plan is to fill this gap by...
Excellent performance for the price. Support for full range of new technologies, including DirectX 11 and Enhanced Quality Anti-Aliasing.
Not consistently more powerful than its less-expensive competition.
With its Radeon HD 6970 video card, AMD introduces some exciting competition in the sub-$400 video card space. But if you want the fastest card out there in this price range, the 6970 is not consistently it. ...
