  • Abstract:  First-person shooters work, and often work reasonably well, on the DS. But the portable platform is not the first choice that often comes to mind for those seeking a great first-person shooter experience. In some ways, the handheld's various limitations f...

  • Abstract:  When most gamers think about the numerous genres present on the Nintendo DS, “first-person shooter” probably doesn’t immediately spring to mind. Puzzlers, role-playing games, platformers, tactics games, action games, and plenty of casual fare can be fo...

  • Singlecard and multicard download play, Looks generic, but otherwise okay
  • Multiplayer matches take several minutes to set up, Flawed health/shield system, Ammo, in particular, is scarce, Level design suffers because there's no map

  • Abstract:  C.O.R.E. is a bumpy trip down memory lane, an unrefined copy of seminal shooters from decades passed. It’s nostalgic, but it also feels anachronistic, a decent-but-outdated FPS that feels too old-fashioned for its own good.

  • Abstract:  Upbeat repeating music…Check. Narrow corridor and sliding doors…Check. Gameplay from 1993…Check. So, you think I’m talking about Doom? Well think again. NoWay Studio’s debut title, C.O.R.E., for the Nintendo DS harked back to some of my favorite momen...

  • Abstract:  First person shooter games really aren't good on the DS. Even the good ones aren't very good. So really, a game like C.O.R.E had no chance in Hell. The game bills itself as a "classic" FPS, which means it acts and looks exactly like a game from the ea...

  • Easy to use controls, looks pretty good for a DS game, adds to an under-represented genre on the system(FPS). Great when played with friends. Music’s good and interesting to listen to. There is four player, single card multiplayer. Story Mode can be...
  • Story’s so-so and not really a factor. No Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support. Only 10 maps. Gets boring if you play single-player for too long. Some environments and areas are really dark and difficult to see in.

  • Multiplayer is fun in small doses.
  • Awful, mazelike level design, Combat is cheap and dull, Controls are limiting and inexact.
  • This archaic first-person shooter is lousy to its core. ...

  • Abstract:  C.O.R.E. feels like a miserable trip through the annals of history. The foundation is reminiscent of Doom, with levels designed around hunts for multicolored keycards and enemy encounters built on reflexes rather than tactics. There is nothing wrong wi...
