  • Compact, efficient, capable, excellent quality scans, fast
  • Too expensive for casual users, no film scanner, no support for TWAIN
  • There’s much that’s good here, although the ScanSnap is not really appropriate for creative studios and too expensive for casual users. The target market of SoHo and business users must really want Acrobat 8 Professional, and for them it&rsquo...

  • Automatic two-sided scanning; fast; automatic OCR; handles small and oversize pages.
  • Quick Menu feature doesnt work with Entourage; OCR software cant keep up with scanner; fairly expensive.
  • If you want to turn your paper archives into searchable PDFs, it doesn’t get any easier than the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M. At $495 it’s not cheap—but its bundled software alone is worth far more than the scanner itself.

  • Fast fast, fast. Good image quality for text and business graphics. Easy to use. Can scan varying paper sizes in a batch.
  • Mediocre photo reproduction quality. Pricey.
  • Attack that mountain of documents with the S510M. It’ll put you one step closer to the paperless office ...

  • Abstract:  Twenty years ago we were promised that by about now, wed all be working in paperless offices. Some hope! Despite the prevalence of email and other forms of electronic communication, it seems that we generate as much paper as ever.
