Wholly unique, nothing else like it on the market. Makes sense for apartments where loud alarms piss off your neighbors or landlord. Few wires and simple controls make it easily scalable: you can add up to 12 wireless detectors for $60 a pop.
Motion detectors mean false alarms when anything moves inadvertently. (A "pet shield" blinds the detector to ground movement, but wont stop kitty from jumping up on furniture.) At $200, its pricey for whats essentially 1980s technology.
For an instant security system the LaserShield works really well. If you have lots of rooms and you add all the extra modules you are looking at a really high price tag. For my house which has 5 bedrooms, it would cost about $440 and if I added the Cyc...
