  • Quiet, Doesn't heat up too much
  • Performance levels significantly down on the best hard drives, No 2 TB version (unless you move up to 32 MB or 64 MB cache versions)
  • The Caviar Greens aren't the fastest of drives. They are however very quiet and heat up very little, which is an indication of durability. This makes them an ideal choice for use as a storage drive in a PC or NAS server....

  • We will do some summarizing now. First of all, we can name the fastest 1-terabyte drive in all our tests. It is the WD RE3 (WD1002FBYS). This is the best buy if you prefer maximum performance. But if you don’t like its high price, you can take the W...

  • Abstract:  The main selling point of the Caviar Green is its low power consumption. This means it runs a little quieter, generates less heat and reduces electricity bills. The 2.8W power rating when idle is less than half the average of the 3½in disks reviewed...

  • The results found here today are right around what I anticipated. In HD Tune, we see that the average transfer rates are very close - .7 MB/sec to be exact. In HD Tach, the burst speed of the 1 TB drive really shines, while again, the averages were ve...

  • Abstract:  The Western Digital 1 TB Caviar GP delivers a terabyte of storage capacity with low power consumption at a relatively low cost. If large, affordable storage capacity in a single drive is what you are looking for, then this is the drive you are looking ...

  • Abstract:  Mit lediglich 5400 Umdrehungen pro Minute arbeitet Western Digitals Terabyte-Festplatte Caviar GP WD10EACS. Akt...

  • Abstract:  Hard drivesThe Caviar GP (for “Green Power”) is the first 1TB hard drive to have variable rotational speed, ranging from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm; Western Digital credits that technological change with helping the hard drive reduce its power consumption.T...

  • Despite their sub-7200 RPM spindle speeds, Western Digitals GreenPower drives proved they can hang with, and even beat, some respectable 7200 RPM drives (and a 10k RPM drive for that matter) in many tests. The drives offer solid performance despite t...
